Provisioning Your Catamaran in Greece: Food, Drinks & Local Flavours

By YachtSailing Editorial Team · 6 min read ·

In short

On a crewed catamaran your hostess plans, shops for and cooks fresh Greek meals to your taste. Here’s how provisioning works, what it costs, and how dietary needs are handled.

One of the quiet luxuries of a crewed catamaran holiday is the food. You don’t cook, you don’t shop, and you don’t wash up - your hostess handles provisioning and prepares fresh meals on board, built around what you love to eat.

Here’s how provisioning actually works, what to expect on the plate, and how it’s priced - so you can plan your week around long lunches at anchor and dinners ashore.

How provisioning works

Before your trip, you share your preferences - favourite foods, drinks, any dietary needs - and your hostess shops accordingly, so the galley is stocked when you step aboard. Through the week she plans and cooks meals around the sailing and your plans, keeping everything fresh with stops at island markets and bakeries.

What you’ll eat

Expect the best of Greek home cooking: ripe tomatoes and feta, grilled fish and meats, fresh bread, seasonal fruit, mezze spreads and plenty of olive oil. Breakfasts are relaxed and generous; lunches are often long, lazy affairs at anchor; and dinners can be aboard or in a harbour taverna, however you feel.

What it costs

Provisioning is billed at cost - you pay for the food and drinks you choose, with no markup. It scales with your tastes: simple and local, or more premium. Many guests find on-board meals excellent value next to eating out three times a day, and you keep the flexibility to dine ashore whenever a taverna tempts you.

Dietary needs and preferences

Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, kids’ favourites - just tell us in advance and your hostess plans around them. Travelling with children? On-board meals make mealtimes far easier than wrangling a group through restaurants every night.

Dining ashore

Part of the joy of a Greek sailing holiday is eating in the islands. Your captain knows the tavernas locals actually go to - the fish grill on the quay, the family kitchen up a backstreet - so you get the authentic table, not the tourist trap. Balance a few nights ashore with meals on board and you get the best of both.

Raise a glass

From crisp Assyrtiko to local Souma, Greek island drinks are part of the experience. Let your hostess know what you like and it’ll be chilled and ready. Then it’s just you, the sunset and dinner on deck. Ready to plan it? Tell us your dates or browse the fleet.
